As featured on Love My Dress!

While we all love a bit of ‘exposure’ here at Celebrant in Cornwall, we rarely do styled shoots – because more often than not they clash with real life weddings! However when your lovely local wedding venue asks you, it’s very hard to say no!

We were in fact delighted when Camel Studio asked us to feature in their shoot last summer – they are literally a hop, skip and a jump from where Lisa is based, and since we spend our life bombing up and down the A30 and the numerous country lanes of Cornwall and Devon, it was lovely to take just a ten minute drive up through the woodlands of the Camel Valley to this wonderful venue. Just a quick explanation of what a styled shoot is, in case you don’t know: it’s when a group of professional wedding suppliers with a similar vibe collaborate to create some beautiful images. Everyone brings their own expertise to the table and the idea is for each to showcase their skills or service. It’s never an easy thing to coordinate, it’s a long old day for the photographer and models in particular, and just getting a date which works for everyone can be challenging! For suppliers like ourselves, it can be quite a long time waiting around for the 30 minutes of when we are needed, but on this occasion we got stuck in and helped the team with some of the styling and set up, which was great fun! And if you’re wondering why suppliers don’t simply use the images resulting from their real life weddings, it’s because a shoot like this gives everyone the time and space to be a bit more creative, a bit more considered about the images they feel best represents their brand, and it’s also a lovely opportunity to work alongside with like-minded folk - something that isn’t always possible during a real wedding. And while no-one is paid, the hope is that we end up with few lovely images which will complement our existing marketing. Which we did! But Helen and David at Camel Studio were lucky (and tenacious!) enough to have top wedding platform Love My Dress run a fabulous editorial piece based on this shoot, focusing on their stunning venue, with the gorgeous images supplied by Lyra and Moth. You can have a read of the piece here, or just enjoy the photos in the gallery below.

And in a quirky twist of fate, we were at Camel Studio for a wedding just two days before the Love My Dress piece launched! So it was perfect timing to catch up with the team, many of whom had worked on the shoot. Venue owner Helen said, “We're so delighted to feature on Love My Dress – but it’s thanks to the wonderful team who helped put our gorgeous shoot together. We could not have worked with a more talented and lovely group of people.”

Isn’t that nice? And although the celebrant only ever plays a very small part in these shoots (if at all!) we loved every minute of working with this great team:

Thanks for asking us Helen and David! And if you’re reading this yet to decide on your wedding venue, do have a look at Camel Studio. It’s a pretty awesome place.
