Jen and Alistair's wonderfully relaxed and intimate celebrant-led wedding ceremony took place at a luxurious holiday home near the stunning beach of Harlyn Bay on Thursday 1 May 2025…

And their day was filled with sunshine, love, laughter and tears - all set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Cornish coast.
A Memorable Couple Jen and Al are truly one of the standout couples of 2025! Every interaction with them was a joy, filled with entertaining emails that made us grin and planning meetings which made us chuckle - the entire journey was so enjoyable. Particularly because theirs is a relationship which shines with authenticity and is packed with love, humour and heartwarming stories - one which we were thrilled to write about.
Unconventional Choices
From the very beginning of our journey, Jen and Al made some great choices. After connecting with us on New Year’s Eve 2024 and then our first conversation in early January 2025, they made the unusual decision to book their wedding celebrant - before any other element! We were delighted to guide them to other suppliers that helped fit their vision of a Cornish holiday home wedding, including our favourite holiday home letting companies and photographers. They eventually found the perfect location in the gorgeous holiday house, Pentyak, by Perfect Stays, and also booked our fabulous colleague Chris Armstrong to capture their special moments with his natural and candid approach.
From NY to Cornwall
We soon learnt that Jen and Al had originally planned their wedding for New York, in 2024. However, life took an unexpected turn due to serious illness, prompting them to reschedule for 2025. Then, following an unforeseen major operation, travelling such a distance for their wedding became impractical. Cornwall became their chosen destination for a small, cosy ceremony by the sea - a perfect decision! And of course, regular readers will know that we are big fans of a Cornish holiday home wedding!
Setting the Scene
Upon their arrival for a week-long stay in late April, Jen and Al brought along the most beautiful weather, and the golden sands and stunning views of Harlyn Bay created the perfect backdrop for their break. We visited their holiday home for a recce a few days before the main event - a gorgeous place, beautifully decorated, with its sleek open plan design the perfect setting for a special celebration. Then a couple of days later, they completed their legal marriage paperwork in Truro, leaving them free to enjoy the rest of the week as friends and family arrived to join them in Harlyn Bay.
The Big Day
On their wedding day, we arrived to blue skies, warm sunshine, and a beautifully laid-back atmosphere. Friends and family enjoyed drinks on the patio, with gentle conversation and laughter setting the tone for a relaxed event. When Jen was ready, looking absolutely incredible, she was escorted by her new father-in-law, Robert, to meet Al. Emotions were high, to say the least! We conducted their heartfelt ceremony in the round, with the sea as a backdrop and wonderful arrangements from Sophie’s Flowers as the only adornment.
Surrounded by their closest people, Jen and Al then celebrated with a ceremony that represented their deep connection and commitment to each other, including a touching moment of reflection to remember Jen’s parents and stepfather. A ring blessing involved every guest, and Al’s dad delivered a beautiful reading. Their touching love story included an epic (albeit three-times derailed!) surprise proposal, and personal vows captured the very essence of their relationship, bringing tears and smiles.
A Unique Celebration
Then with rings exchanged, instead of traditional confetti, the couple opted for crazy string - resulting in some chaos! Then everyone headed down to the beach for photographs (fabulous work by Chris Armstrong), followed by more celebrations with bubbles and delicious food back at the holiday home.
Heartfelt Thanks
The couple sent us the sweetest WhatsApp message the day after, and later, a generous review that truly touched us:
We had to move our wedding plans at the last minute and found Lisa via google. From the off she made us feel so at ease, she listened to our story and completely ran with it. It's no overstatement to say that Lisa made us feel like a close friend was officiating our wedding, she absolutely made the day as special as can be, and we can’t thank her enough. There are too few people in this world who personify kindness and honesty, but Lisa is absolutely one of those few. Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts, and we sincerely hope our wedding day won't be the last time we see you :) Jen & Al x”
This beautiful wedding allowed Jen and Al to craft an intimate experience that truly represented who they are as a couple. Every detail reflected their personalities and love story, making it an unforgettable celebration for everyone involved. And coupled with fabulous weather and surroundings - who needs New York when you have Cornwall?!

We feel so privileged to have been part of their extraordinary journey - and eagerly anticipate what the future holds for this remarkable couple!
