Some couples make you smile from the very first conversation. Sarah and Adam were those people. Warm, adventurous and completely devoted to one another, they brought the same energy to planning their wedding ceremony that they've clearly brought to every chapter of their relationship. By the time their wedding day arrived at beautiful Nancarrow Farm, I knew this wasn't going to be a ceremony anyone would forget.

Joyful bride and groom walk hand in hand under bubbles and confetti, guests cheering outside a rustic barn wedding venue.

When Sarah and Adam's review landed in my inbox after their wedding, there was one sentence that immediately made me stop reading and smile.

"Some genuinely commented that it was the BEST ceremony they had ever been to."

It's an extraordinary compliment, not just because it's lovely to hear, but because it's exactly what every couple hopes their guests will say. That the ceremony – the part of a wedding day that, let's face it, some guests probably expect to simply sit politely through – was actually unforgettable.

As a wedding celebrant, that's always my goal. To create a truly personalised wedding ceremony that feels so authentic, so entertaining and so full of heart that it becomes one of the highlights of the entire day.

A Wedding Ceremony That Began with Singing

One of the things I loved most about Sarah and Adam was that they weren't afraid to do things differently.

Long before either of them walked down the aisle, they had plans to enlist every single guest to become part of the ceremony. And it was my job to make sure no one let our couple down!

As Adam made his entrance, everyone sang Down Under by Men at Work at the top of their voices, giving the Australian groom the welcome he deserved. He really couldn't believe it! Then, moments later, Sarah made her entrance to one of her favourite songs, Grow Old With Me by Tom Odell, with family and friends joining in once again. Resourceful bridesmaids even had some tambourines stashed away to shake during the chorus!

The fun and participation started before I'd even begun telling their story. It was joyful. Unexpected. Completely bonkers… …and completely them. The energy was off the scale before we'd even begun.

From Sydney Beaches to a Nancarrow Farm Wedding

I always think one of the greatest privileges of being an independent celebrant is getting to discover all the little moments that make every couple unique.

Sarah and Adam's story began in a gym in Sydney. Sarah had travelled to Australia for adventure and work experience after qualifying as a personal trainer. Adam had recently decided he was ready to meet someone special. Preferably someone who liked travelling… and, rather specifically, someone willing to do partner acrobatics. As it turned out, Sarah ticked both boxes. On the very day they met, she somehow found herself balancing on Adam's shoulders on the beach. Adam still insists that it counted as their first date. Sarah… took a little more convincing.

Listening to them tell their story during our planning meetings, it quickly became obvious that adventure has always been woven into the fabric of their relationship. From secretly dating while working together in Australia, to travelling through India, building a life in Cornwall, creating a business together and exploring Scotland in their beloved van Ralph, every chapter has been another adventure they've chosen to share.

The Details That Guests Remember

Whenever people ask me what makes a personalised wedding ceremony different, this is exactly what I mean. It's never just about how a couple met. It's about discovering the tiny details that make everyone listening think… "Yes… that's so them."

Like Adam's love of peace, quiet and leaving parties early. Sarah being the last person standing every single time. His collection of Warcraft figurines. Her wonderfully relaxed relationship with timekeeping. Or the way they've quietly transformed one another over the years. Those aren't just funny stories; they're the little gems of truth that allow every guest to see the couple exactly as the people who love them see them.

Those are the moments that create laughter, happy tears and conversations that continue long after the ceremony has finished.

Why I Love Being a Wedding Celebrant at Nancarrow Farm

I've been lucky enough to conduct several ceremonies at Nancarrow Farm, and every time I arrive I'm reminded why couples fall in love with it.

It somehow manages to feel both relaxed and incredibly special. There's a warmth about the place that perfectly complements the kind of ceremonies I love creating – personal, welcoming and centred around people rather than tradition. And that's exactly what makes it such a wonderful setting for a celebrant-led Nancarrow Farm wedding ceremony.

For Sarah and Adam, it couldn't have been a more fitting backdrop. Surrounded by family and friends – and even the family dog! – as well as loved ones who had travelled from the other side of the world, their ceremony felt exactly as they had hoped: relaxed, emotional, full of laughter and unmistakably theirs.

As a wedding celebrant at Nancarrow Farm, that's what I love most about creating ceremonies here. There is so much freedom to make the ceremony genuinely reflect the couple at the heart of it – whether that means beautiful personal vows, stories nobody has heard before or, in Sarah and Adam's case, an entire audience enthusiastically singing Down Under.

More Than Telling a Story

One thing Sarah mentioned in her review meant just as much as any compliment about my writing. She said I made them both feel completely calm. That matters enormously to me. Long before I stand at the front on the wedding day, we've spent months getting to know one another. We've laughed together, shared stories, chatted over video calls and voicenotes, explored family memories and built trust.

By the time the ceremony begins, I'm not simply reading words from a script. I'm telling the story of two people I've genuinely come to know. I think that's why couples often tell me they feel surprisingly relaxed standing beside me. Because by then, we're no longer strangers.

Their Words, Not Mine

Rather than trying to explain what working together felt like, I'd much rather let Sarah and Adam do that themselves.

Please, please, please, if you are reading this, book Lisa for your wedding! We got married at Nancarrow Farm in April this year, and honestly, Lisa really was incredible. Warm, friendly and the perfect storyteller, she made our ceremony so very special for us.
She told our story so beautifully whilst making us both feel so calm and at ease. All our guests were blown away by how much they enjoyed listening to what she had to say, with some genuinely commenting that it was the BEST ceremony they had ever been to.
The whole process of working with Lisa was great – a real people person who shines with love and kindness. Thank you for making our day so special Lisa – we truly do appreciate it."

I honestly couldn't ask for kinder words. Sarah and Adam, thank you for trusting me with your story. Thank you for inviting me into your lives and allowing me to create a ceremony that celebrated every adventure you've shared so far – and all the ones still to come. I have absolutely no doubt there will be many more.

What Can a Celebrant-Led Wedding Ceremony at Nancarrow Farm Include?

One of the lovely things about choosing a celebrant-led wedding ceremony at Nancarrow Farm is just how much freedom you have to make it your own. Your ceremony can include personal vows, readings, music, stories, family and friends, moments of remembrance, and symbolic rituals – or, as Sarah and Adam proved rather brilliantly, an entire room full of guests singing at the top of their voices. There isn't a template you have to follow. That's the whole point. As your celebrant, I'll help you create something that works beautifully within the setting at Nancarrow while still feeling completely and unmistakably like you.

Planning Your Own Nancarrow Farm Wedding?

If you're planning a Nancarrow Farm wedding and looking for a Cornwall wedding celebrant who'll take the time to truly get to know you and create a ceremony that couldn't possibly belong to anybody else, I'd love to hear from you.

Whether you're getting married at Nancarrow Farm or somewhere else in beautiful Cornwall, your ceremony doesn't have to be the bit everyone sits through before the party starts. It can be funny. Emotional. Unexpected. Completely personal. And, just like Sarah and Adam's, it can leave your guests talking about it long after the wedding day is over. Because every relationship is different. And I believe every ceremony should be too.
