We are thrilled to announce that Emily Mahon is joining the Celebrant in Cornwall team this summer as our newest associate. We first met Emily in 2022, and since then, her passion and talent have made a lasting impression on us, along with everyone she meets! Today we’re delighted to share with you the story of how Emily became part of our family and what she brings to the world of wedding celebrations...

Our first encounter with Emily was at the wedding of Frankie and Steve. This was no ordinary wedding – it was a military celebration filled with energy, emotion and a summer heatwave that made the day totally unforgettable. But what really stood out was Emily’s incredible ability to capture the day’s story through her photography.
Because Emily, who you may know as So Belle Photography, has a remarkable gift for storytelling with her camera. The photos from that day didn’t just document the event; they told the story of the couple, their guests and the unique spirit of the day. It was clear from the start that Emily had a special talent for capturing moments that matter.
Our paths crossed once more at the wedding of Kate and Juliet. This event was another standout occasion, one that both Emily and I consider among our favourites. I was reminded how working with Emily is such a joy – it’s fun, it’s effortless, and the rapport she has with her clients and colleagues is always unmatched. So the connection between us grew a little stronger that day as we shared the joy of participating in another heartfelt celebration. It was after this wedding that Emily and I had a brief exchange about her interest in becoming a celebrant – a role she’d been considering for some time. However, as we were both in the middle of a very busy summer season, life’s demands pushed this idea to the back burner for a while. Until….. fate brought us together again at Natasha and James’ recent wedding. This time, I remembered our earlier conversation about Emily’s interest in ceremonies. And by pure coincidence, Emily had decided that this wedding would be her last as a photographer, prompting us to ask (with fingers crossed and breath held) if she might consider stepping into a new role with us.
Happily, she said yes!
Here’s a little insight from Emily herself:
"Hi, I’m Emily -and weddings have always been part of my story.
For twelve years I had the privilege of being a full-time wedding photographer, capturing over 400 love stories. I lived for the real moments - the nerves before the aisle, the laughter during speeches, the quiet glances no one else notices. Being trusted with memories like that is something that never really leaves you.
A few years ago I returned to my original career in education and now work as a secondary SEMH teacher, supporting young people who need a bit more understanding and encouragement to find their place in the world. I absolutely love what I do - but I realised I missed weddings far too much to leave them behind completely.
So, when the opportunity came to join Lisa and the wonderful team at Celebrant in Cornwall, it felt perfectly meant to be. Becoming a celebrant allows me to bring together both sides of who I am: someone who understands people, emotions and stories- and someone who genuinely believes every relationship deserves to be celebrated in a way that feels personal and real.
Outside of work, life is busy and full with my three daughters. I’m happiest baking at home, spending slow days together, or heading out for a walk - although I strongly believe every good walk should end in cake!
I can’t wait to get to know you, hear your story, and help create a ceremony that feels completely yours — relaxed, meaningful, and full of the moments you’ll remember forever."
We are so delighted to bring Emily into our team, we really do think she’s the perfect fit. Her exceptional people skills, passion for storytelling and love for public speaking make her an invaluable addition. And her vast experience in the wedding industry means she fully understands the flow and emotion of the day, as well as all the little nuances that only come with years of experience - we are confident she will be an extraordinary celebrant.
So if you are planning a wedding in Cornwall and want an independent celebrant who combines storytelling, warmth and professionalism, we think Emily is the perfect choice.
Stay tuned for updates on Emily’s first ceremonies and the special moments she will help bring to life.
