On Saturday 31 May 31 2025, James and Abigail held their celebrant-led wedding at one of our favourite venues, Boconnion. Their celebration was colourful and authentic, filled with happy tears, genuine emotions, and warm support from their wonderful guests.

Abi and James booked us over a year in advance for their wedding day at Boconnion, and while we were thrilled at the prospect of presenting their beautifully bespoke ceremony, nothing could really have prepared us for the memorable ceremony that unfolded. We had chatted with the couple at length in the lead-up, enabling us to craft a ceremony that was a heartfelt and honest reflection of their many years together and which included a beautiful proposal story and multiple funny anecdotes! A wonderful reading was included, and the couple decided they would both write their own vows. Add to that an exchange of rings, a certificate signing and a huge confetti exit, and we were set!

Their big day arrived, and while rain might have caused an unexpected delay, there’s nothing like a Boconnion wedding team to ensure everything still goes without a hitch! With the happy agreement of the caterers, the ceremony was pushed back 30 - 40 minutes, when a break in the showers was forecast. Presenting the perfect opportunity for celebrant Lisa to mingle with our couple’s family and friends, including Abi’s fabulous bride tribe, and James’ most excellent groom's crew.

Adaptability at Its Finest

Host Caroline Griffiths of Boconnion had meticulously planned for both an outdoor and indoor ceremony. Initially set in the meadow, it wasn’t until the last possible moment that the ceremony was moved outdoors. And hereby is just one of the bonuses of booking an independent celebrant for your wedding – you won't catch a registrar waiting patiently for the weather to play ball! Equally, some venues insist you decide on setting up your ceremony either indoors or outdoors at least 24 hours before your wedding – not at Boconnion – where the flexible and conscientious team is small but mighty! And worth their weight in gold! And so, supported by James' dedicated groomsmen, benches were dried, flowers were moved, and orders of service were circulated, with all guests eager to witness Abi and James exchange vows.

An Unforgettable Ceremony

Escorted by her bridal party and also proud stepdad Paul, Abi arrived to meet James, who was slightly overwhelmed by this important moment! And the tears did not stop there! However, what made this ceremony truly remarkable, aside from Abi and James' heartfelt investment, was the incredible energy from the guests. Their participation was enthusiastic, with joyous laughter and heartfelt tears, and they reacted to every single word – it really was something to witness. And so many guests approached Lisa afterwards, expressing how extraordinary the ceremony was, which was incredibly humbling.

A Special Tribute to Abi and James

We wanted to say to the new Mr and Mrs Marshall that you both looked absolutely stunning, and you were both supported by the most lovely groups of people one could imagine! Your families' pride was evident, and it was a privilege to witness their heartfelt reactions. Your vows were authentic and from the heart, with your own lovely humour that brought laughter and tears in all the right places. And your ability to listen and engage led to some delightful ad-lib moments, creating the sort of vibe we absolutely LOVE! So thank you - this really is all down to you and your guests in creating one of our most memorable ceremonies of the year so far.

And thank you also for your generosity of heart in sharing your photos and providing these kind words:

Having found the perfect venue, the hunt for a celebrant was on. After our initial meeting with Lisa, it just solidified that we had made the right choice. She carries a warmth, which means you feel open to share personal moments and experiences so soon after meeting. This helped to make us both feel relaxed and supported, particularly as we worked on our vows individually, and honestly, we could not have asked for more.
We have had feedback from guests to say it was the ‘best ceremony they have been to’, ‘incredibly personalised’ and ‘just right for us both’- all of which we echo and more. It was perfect. Lisa has been professional throughout, and her love for the role really shines through for everyone. Thank you will never be enough.

Abi and James, we wish you both a lifetime filled with much love and joy. Sending love and hugs to you both.
