From time to time we like to acquaint you with other local, eco-friendly wedding suppliers, and this is the turn of a sustainable wedding stationery business based right here in Cornwall – introducing Laura Likes!
This wonderful independently owned business caught our eye some time ago on Instagram – and once you have a look at Laura’s work, it’s easy to see why! She specialises in flower-inspired sustainable stationery and numerous plantable products created using seed paper, with designs motivated by the beautiful nature surrounding us in Cornwall.
Just take a look at these wedding invitation suites here: intricately designed, and printed on either premium recycled papers or seed papers – there is a fantastic range of options ready to print to your requirements, or you can mix and match elements of the different suites to create something more unique and bespoke. And your chosen theme can be applied to anything else you might need on the day – from your welcome signs to vow booklets to menus, and from name cards to menus.
But of course, apart from the gorgeous design work, what interests us most are the eco-credentials of this work. We asked Laura a bit more about this:
With the exception of signage, all my wedding stationery is printed in house and I use a mix of 3 beautiful eco-friendly papers; for printing I offer a choice of premium white recycled card stock or plantable seed paper and I use recycled Kraft envelopes as standard.
Within the production of any stationery, I make every effort to keep waste to a minimum. Any off cuts or waste printed papers are recycled or shredded to create packaging and I also recycle all my Canon ink cartridges for the benefit of a local charity. Canon purport that 97% of each ink cartridge is recycled into other products.
And when clients receive their orders – I ask them to place all the packaging in their paper recycling, because everything included in and on the box is 100% recyclable. There’s no bubble wrap or polystyrene in sight here! Just cardboard boxes, paper mail bags, recycled tissue paper and paper tape. I will often also reuse packing paper I receive from my own environmentally conscious suppliers and have begun shredding offcuts of seed paper to create padding as it just seems too good to put in the recycling… I absolutely believe in growing it if you can!
We are so excited to hear of businesses like this with such a strongly green ethos, it really has made us think about our own business practices at Celebrant in Cornwall and what we can do better. One brilliant idea is working towards becoming a carbon positive business. Laura is proud to have achieved this for her own business; as a supporter of social enterprise Ecologi, over a thousand trees have been planted thanks to her work, and her support also funds world-leading climate change solutions to offset any impact. Truly impressive stuff! We know where we will be recommending our clients go to for all their weddings stationery needs!
Are you a wedding supplier in the South West with great eco-credentials? Then get in touch! We’d love to hear from you.
